Su padre era Ketsun Mahkha Legpa Gyaltsen, el duod\u00e9cimo poseedor del trono Sakya, quien tambi\u00e9n fue considerado como el primer poseedor del trono de Zhitok Labrang. Su madre era Gendun Bum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recibi\u00f3 votos de novicio de su t\u00edo Jamyang Dony\u00f6 Gyaltsen, el decimotercer poseedor del trono Sakya y Nyamme Chenpo Dragpa Gyaltsen.
