His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin, Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, graciously bestowed the Guru Rinpoche initiation of the Apang Terton lineage online, at the request of Sakya Friends, on February 4, 2023. Prior to the empowerment, His Holiness offered guidance and counsel to the practitioners.
Embarking on any endeavor, the beginning is always the most challenging. Likewise, as His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin reminds us in this teaching, the start of the Dharmic path can feel especially difficult—because it requires us to confront ourselves. Before we can truly engage with the Dharma, we must question the workings of our own mind: our assumptions, attachments, and the patterns we unconsciously repeat. What is happiness? Why do we stumble into the same traps even when we believe we’ve learned? In this illuminating teaching, His Holiness invites us to look inward and recognize that the greatest barrier to enlightenment lies within. So, are we ready to look that deeply—now?
