A Simple Mind-Training Instruction Given by Mañjuśrī
Teacher: His Holiness the Sakya Trichen (the 41st Sakya Trizin),
Venue: United States,
Year: 2018
Description:

His Holiness the Sakya Trichen (the 41st Sakya Trizin) bestowed this teaching on August 6, 2018 at Sera Jey Foundation, California.

When Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, the first Sakya patriarch, was in retreat performing the Ārya Mañjuśrī practice at the age of twelve, he had a pure vision of Mañjuśrī. Mañjuśrī recited four lines of instruction to Sachen Kunga Nyingpo. Sachen contemplated on the meaning of the instruction, realized that it is the essence of all the practices in the path, and thus incorporated the instruction in all his practices. This instruction is a mind training, known as Parting from the Four Attachments and since then has been widely taught in all Tibetan Buddhist schools. His Holiness has given this teaching numerous times. This particular teaching was presented in a very simple, direct, and concise manner, which is easy to comprehend and understand by a general audience, beginners or advanced practitioners.
